## The Amazing Benefits Explained

### 🔍 **Attention**

Attention is the ability to concentrate on specific information while ignoring distractions. It's essential for tasks requiring focus and precision, such as studying or working on detailed projects. Improving attention can lead to better learning and productivity. <br>

NeuroTracker’s multi-object tracking paradigm directly targets the brain’s attentional networks by requiring users to continuously monitor several moving spheres in 3D space. By progressively increasing the speed and number of targets, it conditions the dorsal attention system to filter irrelevant stimuli and sharpen selective focus. Over repeated sessions, participants demonstrate improved neural efficiency in the frontoparietal circuits, allowing them to sustain attention on critical details amidst distracting environments. This enhancement translates into real-world tasks where sustained vigilance is paramount—such as air traffic control, surgical monitoring, or competitive sports—helping users to lock onto priority information without succumbing to cognitive overload.

NeuroTracker is an excellent tool for providing maximum stimulation across many types of attention. As attention is shared across many aspects of human performance, such different types of sensory processing and motor-skills, increasing attentional bandwidth can bring many benefits for the real-world demands of everyday life.\
\
Different sessions in NeuroTracker focus on training-up different types of attentional skills. These include:<br>

* **Selective attention** - focusing only on what matters and ignoring distractions.
* **Distributed attention** - being able to multi-task and spread awareness to attend to different things at the same time.
* **Sustained attention** - maintaining acute mental focus at a high level for an extended duration.
* **Attentional stamina** - extending mental focus over long periods of time without mental fatigue.\
  \
  Multiple research studies have demonstrated that just 3 hours of NeuroTracker training is effective at significantly enhancing these types of attention.

{% hint style="info" %}

### 🎯 **Focus**

Focus allows you to concentrate on a task without getting distracted. This skill is crucial for achieving goals and completing complex tasks efficiently. Strong focus enhances performance in various activities by enabling deeper and more sustained engagement.&#x20;

Maintaining concentrated attention on NeuroTracker’s designated targets amidst multiple distractors cultivates unwavering focus over extended sessions. The program incrementally stretches the user’s ability to resist cognitive stressors, such as increased speed or additional decoys, thereby reinforcing sustained engagement in prefrontal executive regions. As participants adapt to heightened challenge levels, they report fewer lapses in concentration when tackling intricate tasks, whether analyzing dense technical reports or executing high-stakes procedures under time constraints.

One study with elite rugby players also showed that NeuroTracker training was highly effective at allowing the athletes to avoid loss of attentional awareness under the duress of high physical fatigue. Training can therefore allow you to perform better under different types of pressure. \

### 📐 **Spatial Awareness**

Awareness involves being conscious of your surroundings and your internal state. It is vital for safety, effective decision-making, and social interactions. High awareness improves relationships, situational understanding, and helps prevent accidents.

NeuroTracker’s immersive 3D environment hones spatial cognition by forcing users to interpret depth cues, judge distances, and anticipate object trajectories in real time. By moving targets throughout a volumetric space, the system challenges the brain’s dorsal stream to refine mental mapping skills and improve the integration of binocular disparity, motion parallax, and perspective. Over time, this training enhances parietal lobe function, enabling users to navigate complex physical environments with greater precision—useful for scenarios ranging from elite athletic maneuvers to search-and-rescue operations in cluttered terrains.

{% hint style="info" %}
NeuroTracker was shown in research to help adults improve their driving skills and predict how good they are at avoiding accidents on the road.
{% endhint %}

NeuroTracker was also found to <mark style="color:green;">reduce the risk of falling in the Elderly Population.</mark>

Likewise,[ another study](https://www.neurotrackerx.com/science/training-3d-mot-improves-biological-motion-perception-in-aging-evidence-for-transferability-of-training) showed that training dramatically improved older people's abilities to read and predict human body language cues. This was because their visual awareness increased, allowing them to track multiple parts of the body at the same time.

\
Increased visual awareness may also allow better avoidance of accidents, including injuries in contact sports.

{% endcontent-ref %}

### 🗂️ **Working Memory**

Working memory is the capacity to hold and manipulate information over short periods. It's crucial for problem-solving, following instructions, and performing tasks that require mental manipulation. Strong working memory is linked to better academic and job performance.

Working memory benefits from NeuroTracker’s demand for users to hold multiple target identities and trajectories in mind as they shift through a 3D field. Each tracking trial requires the simultaneous encoding, maintenance, and updating of spatial positions, which exercises both the phonological loop and visuospatial sketchpad components of working memory. As difficulty increases, participants strengthen prefrontal–parietal connectivity, enhancing their capacity to juggle more pieces of information without performance drops. Real-life improvements have been observed in environments that require rapid mental updating—like financial trading floors or tactical decision planning—where maintaining and manipulating dynamic data streams is crucial to success.

As well as when giving answer inputs, working memory systems are taxed in NeuroTracker training whenever the spheres crossover or collide with each other. When speed of tracking increases with training, the rate of these interactions also increases, adaptively heightening working memory demands.\
\
For these reasons NeuroTracker is particularly effective at improving broad working memory skills, even with short amounts of training.<br>

Numerous NeuroTracker studies show strong transfer to different types of working memory, including for auditory capacities. Learn more by searching ''working memory'' in our [research database](https://www.neurotrackerx.com/science).

### ⚡ **Processing Speed**

Processing speed is how quickly your brain interprets and responds to information. Faster processing speeds enhance cognitive function and improve efficiency in daily tasks. This is particularly important in environments requiring quick thinking and rapid responses, such as competitive sports or fast-paced jobs.<br>

The rapid pace at which NeuroTracker objects move compels the visual system to swiftly decode incoming information and relay it for higher-order processing. By repeatedly exposing the brain to fast-moving stimuli, training accelerates neural transmission times in the magnocellular pathway and enhances synaptic efficiency in occipital–parietal connections. Users often notice tangible gains in their ability to quickly interpret and respond to new visual data—vital in domains like emergency response, competitive gaming, or fast-moving manufacturing lines where split-second decisions matter.<br>

NeuroTracker is a sensitive measure of processing speed due to it's adaptive speed threshold methodology. Speed of tracking is the key way difficulty is optimized for each user. When a user can achieve higher speed thresholds, the brains capacities for processing speed have increased.\
\
The Dynamic session in NeuroTracker combines processing speed with dynamic attention, by also adjusting the speed of targets unpredictably while they are moving. This approach helps to improve the use of processing speed in chaotic environments, such as playing team sports and navigating busy or fast changing environments.&#x20;

### 🤔 **Decision-Making**

Decision-making involves choosing the best course of action among various options. Effective decision-making is crucial for personal and professional success, leading to better choices and problem-solving abilities. It's particularly important in leadership roles and high-stakes situations.

NeuroTracker’s dynamic environment serves as a proxy for real-time decision-making by placing users in situations where they must swiftly distinguish trackable targets from distractors. Each trial mimics the cognitive demands of evaluating multiple options under time pressure, sharpening the user’s prefrontal cortex functions related to risk assessment and action selection. As proficiency grows, participants show a marked improvement in latency and accuracy for rapid judgments, translating to everyday scenarios such as strategic business negotiations or on-field tactical calls in team sports.

Changes in NeuroTracker baselines can also predict individual's decision-making abilities on a day-to-day basis.&#x20;

### 👁️ **Motion Perception**

Motion perception is the ability to detect and interpret movement. This skill is critical for activities like driving, playing sports, and avoiding obstacles. Good motion perception enhances safety and performance in dynamic situations, especially when it involves peripheral vision demands.

NeuroTracker’s core challenge revolves around perceiving subtle differences in movement trajectories, speeds, and directions, which directly exercises the visual motion-processing system (area MT/V5). Through consistent exposure to complex motion patterns, users heighten their sensitivity to motion contrast and improve predictive timing judgments. Enhanced motion perception readiness benefits activities like reading rapidly scrolling code, anticipating opponents’ movements in sports, or detecting minute shifts on surveillance feeds.

NeuroTracker has a special session mode called [''Optic Flow''](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjNXDo79CGA)

![](/files/mJS55XeaRW2odwjbw4tS)\
3D optic flow stimulates the sense of movement in the surrounding environment and can be useful for training visual balance systems, as well as detecting balance problems. It also has many real-world applications, such as allowing you to more accurately estimate your driving speed.

### 🏃 **Motor Performance**

Motor performance refers to the coordination and execution of physical movements. It's important for daily activities, engaging in sports, and maintaining physical health. Improved motor performance leads to better physical fitness, reduced injury risk, and enhanced quality of life.

Though NeuroTracker is a cognitive platform, its gains in visual–motor integration translate to smoother and more precise physical actions. By improving the brain’s ability to quickly process visual cues and send coordinated instructions to motor systems, users often exhibit better timing, accuracy, and fluidity in activities requiring synchronicity between vision and motion. Athletes, surgeons, and drivers alike report enhanced hand–eye coordination and reduced reaction errors, underscoring NeuroTracker’s role in bridging cognitive gains to tangible motor skills.

<figure><img src="/files/udwCyuDfQhkdjrsRTXmD" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Early NeuroTracker research discovered that the attentional demands of NeuroTracker and motor-skills are closely coupled. When attention demands are high, motor-skills tend to decline, with one study even showing that this effect can increase the risk of self-sustained ACL injuries.

NeuroTracker is very effective at increasing attentional capacities, and therefore motor-skills, particularly when performing under pressure.<br>

[Learn more about the intertwined role of attention and motor-skills](https://www.neurotrackerx.com/post/3-ways-neurotracker-research-shows-how-the-mind-is-coupled-the-body), and how NeuroTracker training helps to improve them both.

### 📚 **Learning Capacity**

Learning capacity is the ability to acquire new knowledge and skills. It is fundamental for personal growth, adapting to new situations, and achieving success in education and careers. A strong learning capacity promotes lifelong learning and continuous improvement, essential in a rapidly changing world.

These cognitive skills collectively enhance brain health and functionality, improving various aspects of life from personal growth to professional success. Improving these skills can lead to better mental and physical well-being.\
\
qEEG brain imaging studies have shown that 3 hours of NeuroTracker training enhances neuroplasticity - the ability of the brain to forge new neural connections, which is critical for all learning. By sustainably increasing brainwave activity and neuroplasticity, the brain becomes more primed for learning.\
\
Research by Professor Faubert, the inventor of NeuroTracker, has demonstrated NeuroTracker's unique ability to increase learning capacities in elite athletes. By completing at least 15 sessions, athletes become better able to learn and perform complex motor-skills under pressure.\
\
This methodology has been patented and validated as the ''NeuroTracker Learning System''. This essentially involves doing isolated Core training sessions, then incorporating dual-task training, starting with mastery of simple tasks at first, then moving on to progressively more complex tasks.

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/Iqqak_bR92M>" %}

Anyone can use this method to train skills specific to their needs to very high levels. A range of perceptual-cognitive dual-tasks are also included in NeuroTrackerX for Organizations, which can be build into custom programs for clients.\

### 📐 Spatial Awareness

### 🌐 Situational Awareness

By tracking several elements simultaneously, NeuroTracker enhances the brain’s ability to construct a coherent mental model of a complex scene. This training engages dorsal attention and frontoparietal control networks, improving users’ skill in detecting, integrating, and predicting the movement of multiple stimuli in real time. Enhanced situational awareness carries over to high-stakes domains such as military operations, aviation, or fast-paced medical interventions, where recognizing emergent patterns and responding before they fully materialize can be life-saving.

### 🪄 Neuroplasticity

NeuroTracker drives lasting neuroplastic changes by repeatedly challenging participants with tasks that stimulate widespread neural circuits, from primary visual cortex to associative areas. The adaptive difficulty mechanism ensures that each session pushes the user slightly beyond their current capacity, promoting synaptogenesis and myelination in relevant pathways. Longitudinal studies have shown increases in gray matter density and improved white matter integrity after sustained training, indicating that NeuroTracker fosters durable brain network reorganization that underpins improved cognitive function across domains.

### 🔀 Multitasking

Managing multiple moving targets in NeuroTracker intrinsically trains the brain to allocate resources across several streams of information simultaneously. Participants learn to switch attention rapidly between objects while maintaining an overarching awareness of the entire field, bolstering both task-switching and parallel processing capabilities. This refined cognitive flexibility is reflected in everyday multitasking demands—be it juggling emails while participating in conference calls or coordinating team strategies while monitoring performance metrics—without compromising accuracy or speed.

### 🛡️ Fatigue Resistance

Sustained NeuroTracker sessions under increasing levels of cognitive load fortify the brain’s endurance, enabling it to maintain high performance despite prolonged demand. This resilience stems from improved metabolic support in neural tissue and enhanced regulation of neurotransmitter systems responsible for vigilance. Professionals in roles requiring extended periods of mental effort—such as air traffic controllers, long-haul drivers, or intensive care clinicians—find they can operate with fewer cognitive lapses and reduced mental exhaustion.

### ⚡️ Reaction Time

By pushing users to respond accurately to rapid, unpredictable movements, NeuroTracker accelerates neural processing pipelines that underlie reflexive and volitional reactions. Training strengthens sensorimotor integration and prunes extraneous synaptic noise, resulting in faster initiation of motor commands. These gains manifest as quicker shot releases in basketball, more immediate defensive maneuvers in martial arts, or faster keystrokes during high-pressure trading sessions.

### 🚫 Injury Prevention

NeuroTracker’s enhancement of situational awareness, decision-making, and reaction speed forms a trifecta that bolsters safety in physically demanding contexts. With a sharper ability to perceive hazards, predict trajectories, and execute timely evasive actions, users reduce the likelihood of missteps or collisions. Studies in sports medicine have linked NeuroTracker training to lower rates of non-contact injuries, as athletes can better anticipate opponent movements and adjust their own positioning to avoid risk.

### 🧭 Response Control

NeuroTracker fortifies the cognitive control networks that govern impulse regulation by challenging users to inhibit incorrect selections amid rapidly changing stimuli. Each trial’s requirement to maintain target identity over distractors exercises top-down control, strengthening the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex’s capacity to suppress reflexive but inappropriate responses. This enhanced inhibitory control is invaluable in high-pressure scenarios—like surgical decision-making or law enforcement operations—where measured responses prevent costly errors.

NeuroTracker isn’t just for athletes. it has been used for positive improvements in the classroom by many teachers, parents and clinics all around the world. It is used to improve crucial skills needed in learning. These include working memory, information processing speed, and many other cognitive functions.

Most of the problems these students face stem from an inability to focus on the task at hand. In fact multiple studies have shown that the average attention span of children has decreased over the years.&#x20;

#### **NeuroTracker is Accessible to All Students**

NeuroTracker instantly captures the attention of students, in part through ‘gamification’ - <mark style="background-color:green;">it’s fun to do</mark>! But it also requires intense focus, thus training the student’s mind to focus on what is important while processing and dismissing the distractions around them \[]. In fact, teachers and parents are often amazed at the difference consistent training can have.

McGill neuroscience researcher Domenico Tullo says:

> Teachers are seeing the differences of how students are more focused, more calm, and more receptive to learning.

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HChN55Ybwc8>" %}

Unlike any other cognitive training tool, NeuroTracker was found by neuroscientists in Montreal to be accessible even for young children with different types of severe intellectual disabilities. \
\
Through a feasibility study collaborating with special needs schools, it was demonstrated for the first time that these types of children not only understood and could perform cognitive training, but that they were motivated to voluntarily complete 45 sessions of in-classroom NeuroTracker training with 100% compliance!\

## 🧠 What Athletes Need&#x20;

What's different about professional athletes? Modern neuroscience and sports science suggest that it's mental skills, and not so much physical prowess, which define super-elite athletes. Let's take a look at the top 5:&#x20;

### **1. Situational awareness**

Imagine this: sports are filled with fast-paced action and unexpected twists, so being aware of your surroundings is absolutely essential.&#x20;

It's interesting how amateur athletes tend to narrow their field of view, only focusing on a few things, whereas super-elite athletes have an incredible awareness of everything going on around them.&#x20;

This lets them **concentrate on the ball or their opponent**, while others are caught up in the overall action.

### **2. Decision-making**

Team sports offer a wide range of play options, with countless plays to choose from.&#x20;

The process of making the right decision at the right time involves **predicting the future** and pushing **working memory** and **executive functions** to their limits.&#x20;

Lionel Messi is a supreme example of someone who possesses exceptional decision-making skills. He can make game-changing passes at the drop of a hat.

### **3. Reading opponents**

Biological motion perception is important for sports, and players need to be able to read several important body parts at the same time.&#x20;

This allows players to **guess what their opponents will do next**. For example, in tennis, players can guess the direction of a serve before the ball is hit.&#x20;

Researchers have found that athletes have a big edge in biological motion perception, a skill that helps them perform better.

### **4. Processing Speed**

In sports, **rapid responses** mean processing sensory information, figuring out the best action-response, and executing movement.&#x20;

These complex reactions, especially while athletes under psychological pressure and physical fatigue, require skilled interpretation and processing.&#x20;

### **5. Neuroplasticity**

A study on elite athletes found that top athletes have a superior ability adapting to NeuroTracker training, indicating heightened neuroplasticity.&#x20;

In turn, this helps them **learn quickly, respond better** to practice and games, and **change their thinking** skills to be more successful.

<figure><img src="https://assets-global.website-files.com/5ec9caadc128144b74721a86/63299468f378e9c4297ebd3b_performance.png" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Research&#x20;

NeuroTracker has over a 100+ published papers which demonstrate that improving NeuroTracker scores has led to improvements in the sport. Here are a few of those studies

### ⚽️ Increase Soccer Performance

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/otL2jfNE47Y?si=TwS-nyHhYndTuq74>" %}
NeuroTracker training has been proven to help soccer players improve their game.
{% endembed %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Just 3 hours of NeuroTracker training improved competitive soccer passing decision-making by +15%, effectively reducing passing errors by a whopping 50%!
{% endhint %}

#### Method

For this research, a group of college-level soccer players participated in 30 NeuroTracker training sessions over five weeks. An active control group watched 30 3D soccer videos from the FIFA World Cup, and a passive control group didn't do any training.&#x20;

#### Results

The group that trained with NeuroTracker improved a lot. The other groups felt they improved in their self-assessment, even though the coaches monitoring them didn't notice any improvements.

The study found that just **3 hours of NeuroTracker training made a big difference**. It boosted the players' passing decision-making in competitive soccer by 15%. It **reduced passing errors** by almost 50%, which led to better decisions during games.

You can read the [full study on ScienceDirect](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1469029215000631).&#x20;

### ⚾️ Increased Baseball Performance

#### Method

The Nishinippon Institute of Technology, the Kyusyu Institute of Technology, and Kyushu Sangyo University worked together with the Saitama Seibu Lions, a professional baseball team in Japan's Pacific League, for 5 months to see if training with NeuroTracker's 3D multiple object tracking could improve hitting performance and have far-reaching effects.&#x20;

#### Results

The study's results suggest that NeuroTracker training that lasts for a long time has ongoing cognitive benefits. When hitting against fastballs, the results were mixed, with small but not statistically significant gains overall. But for pitches other than fastballs, like curve balls and sliders, there were big gains after training that were surprising. The study has proven that NeuroTracker training helps baseball players **get better at hitting**.

# Getting the right training set-up

To get the most out of the training, you will want to have the right set-up. That means having the correct viewing distance and training environment.&#x20;

## **Viewing distance:**&#x20;

The right viewing distance depends on the size of the screen you are using. As a general rule, the distance between yourself and the screen should be the same as the width of you display. For example, with a 17 inch monitor, your eyes should be roughly 17 inches away from the screen.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
Screens 15 inches or larger are recommended for NeuroTracker.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

Training should always be completed with the center of the screen at eye level.

<figure><img src="/files/9rZ96uhQT9mkGxsxUdAB" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## **Training Environment:**&#x20;

It's important to train in an environment that is distraction free. So try to be in a place with limited background noise and controlled lighting.&#x20;

# Doing your first session

Unless otherwise instructed, NeuroTracker training should be completed in a seated position.

**When the session starts, follow these instructions:**&#x20;

1. Keep you gaze around the green dot at the center of the screen. This helps you use your brain to track the targets, instead of following them with you eyes. \
   ![](/files/7iZjyFUcTlNSjEUfEyee)
2. Among the 8 yellow targets, you will see a certain number of them highlighted with white circles. These are the ones you need to track, so remember them!
3. The targets will then move for 4-8 seconds. You must continue tracking them as they move among the decoys.&#x20;
4. When the targets stop, identify the ones you tracked. You can click them, entering their number or use voice commands (in any order).
5. After that, the correct targets will be displayed. &#x20;

This is one ‘trial.’ If you selected the targets correctly, the next trial will be faster. If not, it will be slower. Each trial starts right after the last one, and the numbers always change.&#x20;

After performing 20 trials, your first NeuroTracker session will be complete!

# Understanding Your Scores

## What is a NeuroTracker score?

At the end of each session, you'll receive a NeuroTracker score. This score represents the speed at which you were able to successfully all track your targets 50% of the time. It represents the upper limit, or breaking point, of multiple object tracking speed. This also referred to as a ''speed threshold''.

It is a snapshot of your mental ability at that moment. :camera\_with\_flash:

{% hint style="info" %}
If you are tracking less than 4 targets, you will also receive a speed score. To provide an even comparison, speed scores are normalized to 4 targets, which gives your NeuroTracker score.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

## What Does the NeuroTracker Score Mean?

<figure><img src="/files/56WygnKJbMLdSma15x4Y" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The NeuroTracker score is a combined measure of your attention, working memory, information processing speed, and executive functions.&#x20;

Since results relate to high-level cognitive abilities, increasing scores are a direct result of improved brain function! :brain:

The NeuroTracker task in 3D is a virtual simulation, so the speed of the balls represents a real-world speed across the user’s field of view, measured as 68 centimeters-per-second at speed 1.0. \
\
For this measure to be accurate it is required that users view their displays from a distance equivalent to the diagonal width of the display. Which means being closer for smaller screens, and further away for larger displays. This distance is also required to get the correct field of view to effectively stimulate peripheral vision.

### Why Do My Scores Fluctuate?

Since attention is impacted by a variety of factors, including sleep, stress, motivation, physical activity and more, it is normal for scores to fluctuate. Research suggests that if such influences lower scores on any given session, the training is still beneficial.

Do not be discouraged if you have a bad result. What’s most important is that you are improving your mental skills over time! :chart\_with\_upwards\_trend:&#x20;

Tip: try not to focus too much on high or low individual session scores - it is better to look at the average of the last three sessions to interpret progress.

### **What is a NeuroTracker Baseline?**

Typically 3 sessions are used to establish a cognitive baseline, the average of which provides a validated measure of high-level cognitive abilities. The standardized scientific baseline is 3 x Core sessions at 4 targets with 8 seconds tracking duration.\
\
**Initial Baseline**

The recommended starting point for all users is to complete 3 Core sessions. The average for which provides an initial baseline. This measure is a reference point which is compared against all future progress. For this reason NeuroTrackerX always displays this on the end user dashboard.\
\
**Current Baseline**

A ‘Current Baseline’ is based on the last three Core sessions an individual has completed, which can be used to show learning effects when compared to an initial baseline. For example, improving from a baseline of 1.0, to 1.5, would represent a 50% improvement in learning.  Because the NeuroTracker task is largely devoid of practice or technique related effects, this improvement represents a raw improvement in brain functions for this task.&#x20;

Tip: it is always useful to compare current scores with initial baseline to see the bigger picture. Even if you have a relatively low score it is likely a much higher level of performance than where you started out.

### **What is Learning Rate?**

15-30 sessions are typically used to evaluate an individual’s learning rate. Rather than how high or low and scores are, the key factor is how much relative improvement is achieved over the sessions. A high learning rate is associated with high levels of neuroplasticity, meaning that the brain is better prepared to adapt in response to the mental demands placed on it.

A landmark NeuroTracker study published Nature Scientific Reports showed that elite athletes have brains with superior capacities for learning, which could be a critical factor as to why they can achieve such high levels of performance on the sports field.&#x20;

A high learning rate is more important than high session scores, because it reveals that a user is benefitting from training in ways likely to improve real-world performance.

### How Do I Compare Scores Across Different Types of Sessions?

Core scores are the reference point to compare scores with other types of Sessions such as Overload, Selective and Dynamic. \
\
Each type of session emphasizes cognitive demands on different types of attention. For example, the Selective session emphasizes selective attention - the ability to filter out distractions and focus only on what's important.\
\
By comparing differences in scores to Core, you can gain insights into a user's particular attentional strengths and weaknesses, and adapt training programs accordingly. For instance, if a user has a a much lower Dynamic than Core score, then adding more Dynamic sessions into their training will help them overcome attentional weaknesses in chaotic environments.

### How Do I Make Sense of Dual-Task Scores?

Generally, adding dual-tasks to training will result in lower session scores. However there are two key factors to take into account here - the complexity of the dual-task and the amount of training with it.

More complex dual-tasks will result in bigger drops on session scores, however more training with the dual-task will reduce this drop.&#x20;

As a general rule, if a dual-task score drops below 50% of a user's Current Baseline, then it is too difficult and a simpler dual-task should be used. On the other hand, if the dual-task score is within 10% of a user's Current Baseline, then they have mastered that task and are ready to progress to a more complex one.

### Understanding Single Session Data

In addition to a session score, more granular performance metrics can be viewed for any completed session. This can be accessed by clicking on the session point on the end user dashboard chart.

<figure><img src="/files/pXZGQOviPIMEY4ooBQuX" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Highlight metrics include:

**Consistency Score**: a measure of how variable tracking speed performance was over the session. A low score here means that over the 20 trials of the session the user was successful at relatively high speeds, yet also was unsuccessful at relatively low speeds, suggesting susceptibility to attention lapses. This score tends to increase with the benefits of training over time.

**Fastest Trial Score Success**: the single highest successful trial speed of the session.

**Lowest Trial Score Miss**: the single lowest trial speed fail of the session.

Other highlights include a user’s personal milestone achievements specific to the their training history, such as reaching a relatively high level of consistency.

Now let’s cover two micro analyses of session data.

**Trial Success Breakdown**

The results of each trial in a NeuroTracker session are categorized into three groups:

**Perfect Trials**: correct identification of all targets.

**Near Misses**: correct identification of all targets except one.

**Significant Misses**: incorrect identification of 2 or more targets.

The types of misses help give insights on whether a user was close to a trial success, or mostly lost tracking overall.&#x20;

Two key things to note:

1. Trial results are presented according to the high, medium or low speed they were attempted at. These speed references are automatically based on the user's Current Baseline.
2. Results at the outer boundaries of the spider chart means more trials were completed in that category, and vice versa.

Overall, this data gives a snapshot of the distribution of trial results relative to the tracking speeds at which they were performed.

**Average Response Time Per Trial**

<figure><img src="/files/gF1f444kRpy5bJGipJ4T" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

This metric is basically a measure of how much time it took for a user to input answers on each session trial. Although answering quickly is not part of the NeuroTracker task and does not influence session score, it can provide useful additional insights.

Generally, user's response times will get faster with more training, which is likely related to increases in working memory capacities. Also uncertainty in answering will typically result in slower response times.

For a more detailed breakdown, the filters for Perfect Trials, Near Misses and Significant Misses can be selected to compare response times to trial results along with the precise time taken to input answers.

# How NeuroTracker Training Evolves

NeuroTracker is built on the principle of **progressive cognitive loading**—gradually increasing the complexity and demands of training to promote continuous development of attention, working memory, processing speed, and situational awareness.

**1. Starting Simple: Build the Foundation**

All users, regardless of experience or background, should begin their training in a **calm and controlled environment**, ideally **seated and free of distractions**. This phase allows individuals to become familiar with the mechanics of the training and begin developing core cognitive functions.

**2. Progressive Challenge: Increasing the Cognitive Load**

As users show improvements in focus, consistency, and accuracy, the next step is to **incrementally** **increase the cognitive load**. This can be achieved in several ways:

* [**Advancing Session Modes**](/how-to-use-neurotracker/understanding-your-training-program/advanced-sessions): Users can move from basic tracking sessions to more demanding modes that challenge the brain in unique ways.
* [**Dual-Task Integration**](/how-to-use-neurotracker/understanding-your-training-program/dual-task-training): A key evolution in training involves pairing NeuroTracker with **secondary tasks**—either physical (e.g., balancing, catching, agility drills) or cognitive (e.g., answering questions, solving math problems).&#x20;
* **Stress and Distraction Simulation**: Cognitive load can also be increased by adding environmental challenges—such as noise, time pressure, fatigue, or competing stimuli—mimicking real-world conditions under which the user is expected to perform.

**3. Contextualization: Tailoring Training to Purpose**

The evolution of NeuroTracker training should be **personalized based on the user’s area of interest or goals**:

* **Athletes** can incorporate sport-specific drills, train immediately after workouts to simulate fatigue, or add crowd noise to replicate game-day distractions.
* **Clinicians** may guide patients through stepwise complexity based on therapeutic milestones, ensuring cognitive demands align with recovery stages.
* **Professionals** under high cognitive load (e.g., pilots, surgeons, military personnel) can use NeuroTracker in tandem with job-relevant tasks to improve operational focus and decision-making under pressure.

NeuroTracker’s adaptive design ensures that users are continuously challenged at an appropriate level. As users improve, the system adjusts difficulty automatically, but **external variables introduced by trainers**—such as dual tasks and environmental stressors—offer an additional layer of customization and realism.&#x20;

{% hint style="danger" %}
The fundamental rule for training progression is to go from **simple to complex.** If the cognitive load increases too quickly, the benefits of the training will be reduced.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

# Understanding Your Training Program

## What is a training program?

When you get started, a training program will be assigned to you, which will guide you on your brain improvement journey.&#x20;

Each program combines different session modes and dual tasks, organized into training phases.&#x20;

Since the system will always suggest what to do next, all you need to do is follow the training to take you mental skills to the next level. :person\_lifting\_weights:

## Viewing your program:&#x20;

On the full dashboard, you will see your current training phase and your progress towards reaching the next section. By scrolling left and right, you can see what's to come and what you have already completed.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/oH3qK9PsVjsLwPRuQBAy" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Session Modes

## Session Modes

While NeuroTracker always involves tracking multiple objects, there are different modes that add a twist to the training.&#x20;

These modes target different facets of attention, to push your attention and focus to the limit! :trophy:

### 1. Core&#x20;

Core is the standard training mode that involves 20 trials of 4-8 seconds. Depending on your results, the speed will adjust automatically.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/1qEU4xX3HvaqENVQbbMC" alt=""><figcaption><p>Core Mode</p></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
Core is the primary session mode that is used in the majority of research protocols&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### 2. Overload

Overload locks the speed at 10% higher than your current baseline score. This will help acclimatize to higher speeds and help your breakthrough plateaus.&#x20;

{% hint style="warning" %}
This session calculates the score using the total number of correct targets. So every target counts!
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/kfLXzeB7IeJql8xDeAPW" alt=""><figcaption><p>Overload mode</p></figcaption></figure>

### 3. Sustain

The Sustain modes has two parts. The first is a long self-paced trial, where you can manually adjust the speed of the targets and highlight them when you lose track. The second part involves 6 standard trials, based on your performance in the first part.&#x20;

This session focuses on sustained attention, which helps you focus for longer periods.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
This mode is a great warm-up tool and takes less time than a regular session
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/xo1ulU6rnzoYC8BfMSZU" alt=""><figcaption><p>Sustain mode</p></figcaption></figure>

### 4. Selective

Selective involves primary and secondary targets. To succeed, not only do you need to recall all of the targets, but you must also remember which one was the primary target.&#x20;

This mode focuses on selective attention, which helps you switch attention between separate tasks.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
Because of the added difficulty, the Selective mode makes you track 1 less target
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/6rB2gBBWPcZulVJVuo0l" alt=""><figcaption><p>Selective Mode</p></figcaption></figure>

### 5. Distribute

The Distribute mode uses two different color targets, 4 yellow and 4 blue. The task is to overcome your natural instinct to follow a single color and remain focused on the correct targets.&#x20;

This session focuses on distributed attention, which helps you split your focus across multiple streams of information.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/2b3B0x3zd7KRhGzhD5zz" alt=""><figcaption><p>Distribute mode</p></figcaption></figure>

### 6. Dynamic

Unlike other modes, in which the target speed remains constant within each trial, the Dynamic mode incorporates speed surges. This means that the targets will randomly speed up and slow down throughout each trial.&#x20;

The Dynamic mode focuses on dynamic attention, which allows you to stay focused when situations are changing rapidly or unpredictable.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/cxj54JzsNReo7w94DFxs" alt=""><figcaption><p>Dynamic mode</p></figcaption></figure>

### 7. Stamina

In Stamina mode, you 15 lives and continue training until you reach zero. Similar to Overload, the speed is fixed just above you normal level and each target counts.

This mode focuses on attention stamina, allowing you to maintain your focus for longer.&#x20;

{% hint style="warning" %}
The final score is known as the *Stamina Rating*, which accounts for the speed, number of targets, and how many trials the user completed.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/BnInHqLpy3mZHho6glK7" alt=""><figcaption><p>Stamina mode</p></figcaption></figure>

# Advanced Sessions

## Advanced Sessions

Advanced session modes have an added level of difficulty.&#x20;

{% hint style="danger" %}
You experience higher cognitive load in advanced sessions, so they should only be attempted later in your training, once you have built the mental skills necessary.
{% endhint %}

### +Optic Flow

+Optic Flow adds an immersive oscillating tunnel in the background of the exercise as a balance dual-task (optokinetic stimulation).&#x20;

Levels of difficulty:

* **Easy**: Standing with feet in a line.
* **Moderate**: Standing on 1 foot.
* **Hard**: Balance on Bosu or exercise ball&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/iNM1OLr2djKtVyZcwpYS" alt=""><figcaption><p>+Optic Flow dual task</p></figcaption></figure>

### +React

+React is a dual task that involves a reaction time test. When the cube flashes, respond as quick as possible, all while maintaining focus on the NeuroTracker exercise.

<figure><img src="/files/I5YfbAs8lVOtIRm0Fxyb" alt=""><figcaption><p>+React dual task</p></figcaption></figure>

### +Impulse

+Impulse adds a go/no-go decision as a dual task. While you are tracking the targets, a visual cue will be shown, which you must respond to (grey circle) or not (blue circle).&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/p7hGKBN1E9Jbu9WCt9X7" alt=""><figcaption><p>+Impulse dual task</p></figcaption></figure>

### +Stroop

This mode adds the Stroop test to the exercise. While tracking the targets, you must override your automatic response (reading the word) in favor of a controlled response (naming the ink color).

<figure><img src="/files/Q46do8u74okJxABinZB2" alt=""><figcaption><p>+Stroop dual task</p></figcaption></figure>

### +Math

The +Math mode incorporates a math exercise while you track the targets.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/T4v9ctGLNDhmnfEpUEwd" alt=""><figcaption><p>+Math dual task</p></figcaption></figure>

### +Memory

+Memory adds an object recogntion task to the exercise. At the start of the session you will see a number of reference shapes, which you must recall. During the trial, if the shape in the background matches the reference group, you need to respond. If not, ignore it.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/jDujza3jXSpUQVdGbh0O" alt=""><figcaption><p>+Memory dual task</p></figcaption></figure>

### +Distraction

In the +Distraction mode, random targets will be highlighted during the trial drawing your attention. You must overcome this distraction and maintain focus.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/EMVbc6R25YxNkvIy4gEG" alt=""><figcaption><p>+Distraction dual task</p></figcaption></figure>

# Dual Task training

## What is a dual task? :person\_lifting\_weights:

A dual task is a secondary exercise or distraction added to a NeuroTracker session. They pull some of your attention away from the core training, which adds to the difficulty.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/Mz09oY7HrFkKo6KhwsAW" alt=""><figcaption><p>Balance dual task</p></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/lsM2xoO6ek92j2FtoHnt" alt=""><figcaption><p>Strength dual task</p></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="danger" %}
You experience higher cognitive load with dual tasks, so they should only be attempted later in your training, once you have built the mental skills necessary.
{% endhint %}

NeuroTracker has built in dual-task modes, learn more here: [Advanced Sessions](/how-to-use-neurotracker/understanding-your-training-program/advanced-sessions)

## Why are dual tasks important to NeuroTracker Training? :brain:

Once you have built up you mental skills, dual-tasks are an excellent way keep increasing your overall learning. Not only to they increase the difficulty of the NeuroTracker task, which boosts your cognitive abilities, but they also help you train specific skills under pressure.&#x20;

## Progression of dual task skills

When first starting out, NeuroTracker training should be done without any additional distraction. This is to build up the necessary mental skills that are needed to progress to the next level.&#x20;

Once those skills are developed, usually after 15-30 training sessions, you can then begin dual task training.&#x20;

This should start with simple exercises, such as balancing or light caridio, befor increasing the complexity.&#x20;

{% hint style="danger" %}
The fundamental rule for dual task progression is to go from simple to complex. If the cognitive load increases too quickly, the benefits of the training will be reduced.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

&#x20;**Examples of dual tasks:**&#x20;

* Standing (proprioception and standing upright require attention)&#x20;
* Balance: tandem stance, bosu ball, alternating single-leg stance&#x20;
* Strength & Cardio: lunge, squat, exercise bike&#x20;
* Lifestyle Specific: sport-specific skills, environmental noise, mental math&#x20;
* Advanced Sessions: pre-created dual-task sessions

## Gauging dual task difficulty

If a dual-task session results in a score that is **less than 50% of their current Core baseline**, it is an indication that it is too difficult for efficient learning.&#x20;

{% hint style="warning" %}
Since dual tasks add difficulty, it's natural for scores to drop
{% endhint %}

Over time, users will begin to master the dual task and scores will return to the range they were prior to starting the new skill. That is an indication that it is time to progress to something more complex.&#x20;

# Using Open Training

### What is Open Training?

<figure><img src="/files/aYERMYbrMn0k8gMKH1vl" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Open Training allows end users to train with all NeuroTracker session types, advanced parameters, themes, and dual-task training options. Most of these options can be combined for unique training experiences.

**Session types**: these are similar to Core sessions but place emphasis on different types of attention.

**Dual-Tasks**: these are specialized passive or active Dual-Tasks testing specific visual or perceptual-cognitive skills presented within the NeuroTracker task environment. Note that +Math and +Stroop require activating the NeuroTrackerX voice recognition option.

Access to Open Training requires Organizations to complete the Advanced NeuroTracker Academy Certification. Once this is completed access is automatically unlocked.

Organizations can then choose to make Open Training accessible to individual users by clicking the checkbox in their user profile.

**Advanced parameters**: number of targets and tracking duration are standard parameters, while Advanced Parameters allows users to set the speed of first trial of a session, how long targets are presented, and also how long answer feedback is presented.

**Themes**: virtual sports environments can be set as the background during NeuroTracker sessions, in addition the spheres can be set to spinning baseballs, soccer balls or basketballs.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Advanced Parameters** and **Themes** are only available on the **NeuroTracker Business Software**
{% endhint %}

### Using Open Training&#x20;

Open Training is accessed on the end user's dashboard by clicking the compass icon on the left side.

To navigate the page it useful to first hover over the 'i' symbols to get into on each element, and then once options are selected to click the video preview option see the selected options in action.

<figure><img src="/files/DMJVrZzJGx635PBTzKc7" alt=""><figcaption><p>Preview of the baseball theme</p></figcaption></figure>

A session type must be chosen to train, so it is recommended to choose this before adding other options. Other options aren't required to train, but can be added in many different combinations.&#x20;

For example, the Dynamic session could be used with +Reaction and the soccer theme.&#x20;

Note that Open Training will not affect preset training programs - once completed the next session in the program queue will still be default on the user's dashboard.

### When to Use Open Training?

When trainers are managing users in person, the Open Training page can be useful for quickly launching custom sessions on-the-spot. This is also a helpful way to introduce users to this option before allowing access for home training.

It's recommended to only use the different session types after completing 3 Core sessions, and at least 15 single-tasks sessions before introducing Dual-Tasks. Themes can be added at any point, along with changes in parameters.

Open Training can be helpful to boost user's longer term motivation to train. For example it can be a good idea to give a user a target before giving them access, such as completing 30 sessions or reaching a 2.0 baseline for Core at 4 targets.

Note that new training options such as audio soundscapes will be added to the Open Training page going forward.

Lastly, it is recommended to complete a standard Core session at least once every 5 sessions, as scores provide a valuable reference for monitoring how well a training program is progressing.

# NeuroTrackerX Motivational Tools

NeuroTrackerX for end users includes Training Goals and the Leaderboard as optional tools to help boost training motivation.

### Training Goals

<figure><img src="/files/ikv6HeLgvr3dLs1I01fk" alt="" width="188"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Training Goals are a tool available by default on all end user's dashboard. It provides a simple way for users to set a target of how many sessions they would like to complete on a weekly basis. Users simply click the dropdown at the top of their dashboard and select a preferred goal. This can be changed at any time.

Progress towards each week's the goal is updated each time a session is complete, e.g. 3/6. The cup icon also displays how many weeks a goal has been achieved.

### Leaderboard

The Leaderboard tool allows users to compare their training progress to other users in the same Organization. It is only available to Organizations, and is made available to users on an individual basis.&#x20;

To Leaderboard can be enabled when signing up new users by simply clicking the Leaderboard checkbox. Or it can be enabled for existing users by clicking the same checkbox in the edit users options.

Once enabled it will automatically appear on the right side of the end users dashboard.

<figure><img src="/files/15U2E8oQyQ5TkaLF2VfH" alt="" width="188"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Note that users have 2 options:

1. They can collapse the tool to the side, then click on it only when they want to view the data.
2. They can turn the Leaderboard off or back on again by simply clicking the toggle button in their profile options - accessed by clicking their name on the top right of their dashboard.

<figure><img src="/files/Q1q43STLoLZuPzkL9PU3" alt="" width="188"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Leaderboard Data

3 types of training data are shared among all users in an Organization with the Leaderboard option activated.

1. The highest current session scores and the difficulty (session parameters) they were performed at.
2. How many sessions each user has completed.
3. The relative improvement rate achieved, i.e. the percentage gain from initial baseline.

Each of these 3 metrics can be filter for the current week, month, year, or across all time.

#### When to Use the Leaderboard

# NeuroTrackerX 3D and UI Options

### Render Options

3D and 2D render options are accessed in each end user's account (they cannot be set within the NeuroTrackerX Organization application).

<figure><img src="/files/rGrxKRHyTmelHVWXxBQm" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Each user account is set to Anaglyph 3D by default, which works specifically with NeuroTrackerX 3D glasses. These are the preferred choice of most NeuroTracker organizations and personal users. If you are using these glasses then no settings need to be changed.

However other options are available. To access them, on the end user dashboard select the user's name on the top right and click Change Render in the dropdown menu.

<figure><img src="/files/paMCvnnCFvBsbtdYm4ie" alt="" width="353"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**2D**: this setting allows NeuroTracker training without stereo 3D. This can be used when 3D is not practical (though it is recommended for greater training benefits), for people with difficulties processing stereo 3D (e.g. concussion symptoms), or to do comparative assessments of 2D versus 3D visual functions. Note that NeuroTracker scores in healthy populations will be typically higher in 3D than 2D.

**Anaglyph 3D**: optimized for use with NeuroTrackerX glasses. The cog icon allows access to options to customize anaglyph settings, this can be helpful if using other types of anaglyph 3D glasses, which are not typically optimized for NeuroTrackerX. When using anaglyph 3D glasses it is advisable to avoid sitting next to windows with strong sunlight coming from the left or right side, as this may cause eye strain through high contrast differences between the left and right eyes.

**Active 3D**: this option is for using NeuroTrackerX with 3DTVs, 3D projectors, AR glasses and VR HMDs using active 3D or side-by-side 3D.

**Note**: research has shown that training effects with anaglyph 3D and active 3D with different display sizes produces closely equivalent results and training benefits.

**Tip**: if using NeuroTrackerX in in 2D while waiting for NeuroTrackerX anaglyph glasses to be delivered, make sure you remember to switch the render back to anaglyph 3D when the glasses arrive. The anaglyph glasses should not be used when 2D is on, and likewise anaglyph 3D should not be used without anaglyph 3D glasses.

### User Interface (UI) Options

There are two options for how the NeuroTrackerX end user UI is displayed: Full and Lite.

The **Full** UI is the preferred choice of most Organizations and personal users, allowing all NeuroTracker training program information and training data to be displayed.

<figure><img src="/files/vIfLq8i6QVoquuM0FcL8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The **Lite** UI option is a greatly simplified UI that is focused mainly on training and ease of use. This option can be helpful for low functioning populations such as elderlies or children with learning difficulties, or for use in research studies.

<figure><img src="/files/N2onwGmtFSuPHXsQ1e4H" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Setting the UI**

As in the above screenshots, the UI can be switched by end users at any time by clicking on their name and selecting the preferred setting in Dashboard Type options.

Organizations can set the UI to Full or Lite when creating an end user account, or they can set the option to allow the end user to make their preferred choice on initial sign-up via email account.&#x20;

Additionally, Organizations can can also change the UI setting at any time using the Edit User option within the NeuroTrackerX Organization application.

**Note**: changing the UI settings does not in anyway affect end user training programs or data - it is a simply difference in how the software is displayed.

# NeuroTracker Exercise Answer Input Options

When performing any NeuroTracker training there are 3 options for inputting answers at the end of each trial. All 3 of these can options can be used within any NeuroTracker session.\
\
Before covering these options, note that during the answer phase of the NeuroTracker exercise numbers 1-8 are displayed on the spheres. These numbers are randomly assigned to the spheres and their only function is to identify tracked targets.&#x20;

The numbers are not part of the training task and do not need to be remembered. However they can be useful for verbally sharing with answers other people, for example a coached user may speak their answers and their trainer inputs the targets for them.

## 1. Keyboard

Simply type the corresponding numbers for the tracked targets to input answers during the answer phase. There is no need to press enter as the answers will be automatically accepted within a few second after the numbers for all of the targets have been typed.&#x20;

However, after all target numbers are entered, pressing the enter/return key will immediately submit the answers. This can be used to slightly reduce the time it takes to complete a session.

## 2. Mouse or Touchscreen

Simply click or touch the tracked targets to select answers. Again answers will be accepted automatically after a few second, however when using mouse the answers will be accepted immediately if the right mouse button is clicked after all targets are selected (but this is not an option for touchscreen use).

Mouse and touchscreen can also be used to override the automatic cube rotation, which can be used to quickly reveal any targets hidden by other spheres. To do this simply touch-hold or hold the left mouse button down on any part of the screen and drag in any direction.

## 3. Voice Recognition

Answers can be inputted by simply speaking the numbers into the device's microphone. This function is not activated by default, but can easily be activated by end users at anytime by clicking the end user name on the dashboard and switching the Voice Recognition toggle on.

<figure><img src="/files/jVGgDl6CcHS63r9oTWLB" alt="" width="355"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

When this toggle is turned on for the first time on any specific computer device, there will be a brief moment while the voice recognition is downloaded into the NeuroTrackerX application on that device. This a one-off event per device.

Once activated voice inputs can be used for any training session. Voice recognition can be switched on or off at any time, including within the NeuroTracker exercise, by clicking or touching the microphone symbol on the top-right of the screen.

<figure><img src="/files/yozf4vDrgulmBzIhD4dj" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Some of the Dual-Tasks in NeuroTrackerX, such as +Stroop and +Math, require voice recognition to be enabled in order to use them. In these cases additional answers need to be inputted during the trial movement phase, which is not practical for keyboard, mouse or touchscreen use.

If training in a noisy environment voice recognition may not be an ideal option, however this depends on the specific microphone being used.

**Note:** if a mistake has been made inputting a target answer on any session trial, this can be corrected using the same method for all 3 of the answer input options. Simply select a previously input answer in the same way to deselect, then select a new answer. If all targets have already been inputted, then this needs to be done in the few seconds before NeuroTrackerX automatically accepts the answers.

<details>

<summary>How does NeuroTracker work?</summary>

NeuroTracker is a visual tracking exercise that takes place in a 3D environment. Designed to adapt to each person's ability, the training isolates and enhances fundamental cognitive skills that transfer to real world improvements.

Here's how the process works:

1. Visual Setup: Users wear anaglyph glasses to view a 3D virtual environment on a screen.
2. Target Identification: A set of spheres appears on the screen, with some designated as targets.
3. Tracking Phase: The spheres begin moving randomly in the 3D space. Users must track the target spheres while ignoring distractors.
4. Selection: When the movement stops, users must identify the correct target spheres.
5. Adaptive Difficulty: If the user selects the correct targets, the speed of movement increases in the next trial, making the task more challenging.
6. Session Structure: Each training session lasts about 6 minutes and consists of 20 trials.
7. Training Regimen: The recommended usage is 2-3 sessions per week, with a core training program comprising 30 sessions over about 3 months.
8. Cognitive Engagement: The exercise is designed to improve attention, executive function, working memory, and processing speed.
9. Customization: The system can be programmed for different speed and challenge levels, adapting to the user's performance.
10. Monitoring: For remote use, trainers can use the NeuroTrackerX application to view all users training progress and adapt programs accordingly.

This cognitive training approach aims to enhance fundamental mental abilities through repeated practice in a challenging, adaptive 3D environment.

<details>

<summary>Do I need to remember the numbers in the NeuroTracker exercise?</summary>

No. The numbers on the spheres are randomized each trial. They are only used as a way to identify your targets, either to input answers via keyboard, or to report them verbally.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Who can benefit from NeuroTracker?</summary>

Scientific studies show that NeuroTracker is beneficial for assessing and improving performance for athletes, personnel, healthy aging, people with cognitive related medical conditions, college students and children with learning difficulties. However, because NeuroTracker improves high-level mental abilities, it can be used by anyone looking to improve their mental performance.

Find out more: [Who is it for?](/what-is-neurotracker/who-is-it-for)

</details>

<details>

<summary>Is NeuroTracker suitable for all ages?</summary>

Yes, NeuroTracker has no age restrictions. As long as the individual is capable of understanding the task, they are capable of training. However, children become more proficient at training as they age. It can also be helpful to see a specialist who uses NeuroTracker to determine an optimal training plan.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is special about NeuroTracker’s cognitive training?</summary>

NeuroTracker differentiates itself from other cognitive training programs on the market with its scientific evidence of rapid improvements across many high-level cognitive abilities and transfer to human performance.

**Rapid improvement**: Even with minimal training, users quickly see mental improvements. Just 18 minutes of training per week can robustly improve high-level cognitive abilities such as attention, executive function, working memory, and processing speed. Most users experience positive results with just 1.5 to 3 hours of distributed training.

**Transfer to human performance**: In science, ‘far transfer’ is considered the gold-standard of research. Individuals using NeuroTracker experienced mental improvements not only in their training program, but also in non-related tasks e.g. passing accuracy in competitive play.

Learn more: [Benefits of NeuroTracker](/benefits-of-neurotracker)

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can multiple people use the same NeuroTracker account?</summary>

No. When you sign up for a program, it becomes customized to you and adapts to your personal mental abilities. It is intended to track your personal progress and ensure that your training session is optimized each time. Each person has a different performance level and mental threshold.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How many times should I do NeuroTracker per day/week?</summary>

This depends on how quickly you want to experience training benefits.

For rapid training results it is recommended to complete 3 training sessions day. With this approach many scientific studies support that there will be broad and significant cognitive benefits within 1-2 weeks of training.

3 sessions per day is also the maximum amount of recommended training. As your brain needs sleep and rest to consolidate, more than 3 sessions per day will have less optimal benefits with each extra session.&#x20;

However, research suggests session frequency is very flexible, with training just once per week still showing benefits over the longer term.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How long do the training benefits last?</summary>

In scientific research the benefits from 3 hours of training have been shown to last up to 14 months in healthy populations. Some evidence also suggests that training promotes neurogenesis, providing additional cognitive benefits around 4-5 weeks after training (when new neurons come online).\
\
That said, neuroplasticity is dependent on cognitive activity and also varies from person to person. If an individual remains cognitively active and engaged in learning the benefits may be very long lasting. In contrast, lack of cognitive activity, due to sports injury or depression for example, may diminish the benefits more quickly.\
\
Occasional NeuroTracker baselines can be used as an accurate indicator of how well the benefits are benefits are being retained.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What does a speed threshold score mean?</summary>

When a user completes a NeuroTracker session, they receive a ‘speed threshold’ score – the primary metric that NeuroTracker provides. Speed threshold is the calculated measure of a user who fails/succeeds at that speed approximately 50% of the time (upper tracking speed limit). It is based on NeuroTracker’s analysis of results across 20 trials within an individual session.

Effectively it represents the upper speed limit at which an individual can perform this multiple object tracking task.

Numerous studies show that this measures relates to real-world functions strongly, for example predicting sports performance or driving safety.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is the purpose of the consolidation phase of training?</summary>

During the Consolidation Phase, the User is expected to rapidly improve their cognitive performance. Building this foundation of perceptual-cognitive training is a prerequisite for advanced training with the NeuroTracker Learning System. Users’ most significant improvements typically occur in the first 15-30 NeuroTracker training sessions.

This initial training phase effectively builds-up neuroplasticity levels, making the brain more adaptable to learning new tasks.

Learn more: [Understanding Your Training Program](/how-to-use-neurotracker/understanding-your-training-program)

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is the purpose of different types of NeuroTracker sessions?</summary>

Core is the primary session used for NeuroTracker training and assessment. Other types of sessions, such as Selective and Distribute, have small variations to the Core session, changes demands on different types of attention. These differences can be used to train attentional skills in more specific ways, for example using Distribute training to focus on building-up better situational awareness.&#x20;

In particular, sessions can be compared to Core baselines to assess strengths and weaknesses. If a user has low scores on say the Dynamic session, then training programs can include more of this session to more rapidly improve attention in choatic and unpredictable environments.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What are Dual-Tasks?</summary>

NeuroTracker dual-tasks are training methods that combine the NeuroTracker 3D multiple object tracking exercise with additional cognitive or physical tasks. There are three main types of dual-tasks used with NeuroTracker:

1. **Motor-skill tasks:**

* These involve movement, balance, and proprioception abilities.
* Examples include sitting on a bosu ball, standing on a balance board, or performing sport-specific movements.
* They focus on the accuracy of coordinated movements or maintaining certain positions while tracking objects.

2. **Physical tasks:**

* These involve cardio or strength-based exercises to induce physical exertion.
* The goal is to train concentration and focus under the effects of fatigue.
* Research suggests NeuroTracker can enhance cognitive resilience during physical stress.

3. **Perceptual-cognitive tasks:**

* These expand the mental dimension of training by requiring users to perceive, understand, and respond to environmental cues.
* Examples range from simple tasks like counting backwards or spelling words to more complex scenarios involving tactical decision-making.
* Some elite military and sports teams use a special NeuroTracker mode with integrated virtual scenes for situational awareness training.

The dual-task approach is designed to:

* Boost neurophysical fitness
* Train mastery of specific skills under pressure
* Extend learning to higher performance levels
* Increased training motivation

For optimal results, it's recommended to:

* Start with 15-30 sessions of basic NeuroTracker training before introducing dual-tasks
* Begin with simple dual-tasks and progressively increase complexity over time
* Combine different types of dual-tasks as mastery improves

This progressive overload approach aims to tap into neuroplasticity for more efficient learning and quicker mastery of complex tasks.

**Note**: NeuroTrackerX for Organizations includes specialized perceptual-cognitive dual-tasks which can be built into users' training programs or accessed via Open Training.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I train on a mobile phone?</summary>

It is not recommended for two reasons.

1. NeuroTrackerX trains peripheral visual systems using a field of view of 46 degrees. On a small mobile device it is not practical to be close enough to the screen to facilitate peripheral vision.
2. NeuroTrackerX leverages the difference in perspective between each eye to the display screen. If viewed very closely, a mobile phone will create a large difference in the viewing angle of each eye, making 3D perception suboptimal.

However a mobile phone can be used to screen cast NeuroTracker to a large display such as a compatible TV.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How to I view training data in NeuroTrackerX?</summary>

On the end user dashboard there are two options:

1. Homepage chart - here you can scroll to explore data over time, as well as click on individual session points to see data highlights of that session.
2. When clicking on a session point you also have the option to explore a detailed breakdown of data for that session - simply click the 'Open this sessions in the stats page'. Alternatively you can go to the stats page by clicking the pie chart symbol on the left side of the homepage dashboard. Note that in that stats page you can select any session to view in the down drop menu next to 'Showing last session'.

In the NeuroTrackerX Organization application you can also compare macroscopic data between different users. Do this by clicking the Stats option on the left side of the dashboard, and then selecting the users you would like to compare.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I export NeuroTracker data?</summary>

Yes, there are two options:

1. You can download the basic homepage chart on the end user user dashboard in a print-friendly format by clicking the download option (just above the chart).
2. In the NeuroTrackerX Organization application you can download detailed training of any user or users. To do this go the the Organization section, click the checkbox next to a user, then click the export data option. To do a batch export of multiple users' data into a single XL document, simply click the checkboxes of all the users you would like to export data for.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do I need to login to an end user's account to access their dashboard?</summary>

If you have the NeuroTrackerX Organization application then you do not need to login. Instead, go to the Organization page and click the bar chart icon next to any user's name to go directly to their dashboard. You can now use the end user account exactly the same as if you'd logged in.

To go back to the Organization application, simply click the back arrow on the top left of the end user dashboard (this will log out the user).

Note: this is a much more practical option for in-center, as your end user's dashboards are one click away. However you cannot access an end user account if it is already logged in (only one login per account is allowed).

## 3D Glasses & Training in 3D

<details>

<summary>When do I receive my 3D glasses?</summary>

Those who purchased 3D glasses should receive them within 7-14 business days. If you haven't received your glasses within 7 days please contact our Support Team.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Why does NeuroTracker use 3D technology?</summary>

NeuroTracker uses a 3D environment for these key reasons:

1. **Enhanced cognitive engagement**: The 3D environment provides a more immersive and challenging experience, requiring greater cognitive resources to process depth information along with object movement.
2. **Improved performance and learning**: Studies have shown that participants training in the 3D environment outperform those in 2D environments. The 3D setting leads to a higher learning curve throughout the training program.
3. **Better representation of real-world scenarios**: The 3D environment more closely mimics real-world visual processing, as we naturally perceive and interact with objects in three-dimensional space.
4. **Utilization of binocular stereo cues**: The 3D setup allows for the use of binocular vision cues, which the brain processes more effectively than monocular cues used in 2D environments.
5. **Transfer to real-world skills**: The 3D environment may facilitate better transfer of learned skills to real-world tasks, particularly in sports and other dynamic environments.
6. **Stereoscopic benefits**: Research suggests that stereoscopy (3D vision) benefits the processing of dynamic visual scenes by helping to disambiguate object occlusions.

Research studies have demonstrated that performance on NeuroTracker is significantly higher in 3D, and specifically helps to trigger peak performance flow states (compared to 2D).

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is anaglyph 3D?</summary>

Anaglyph 3D is a technique used to create stereoscopic 3D images that can be viewed with special glasses using color filters. Here are the key aspects of anaglyph 3D:

1. Image composition: Anaglyph 3D images are created by superimposing two slightly offset images of the same scene, each filtered with a red or cyan color.
2. Anaglyph glasses have different lens filters for each eye, effectively showing eye a different perspective of a 2D display .
3. The brain then fuses these two images to create the perception of a three-dimensional scene, simulating how real-world 3D vision is processed in the visual cortex.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do I need to use NeuroTracker's anaglyph 3D glasses?</summary>

Other types of anaglyph 3D glasses can be used with NeuroTrackerX. However, NeuroTracker's 3D glasses are custom-engineered to be optimized for the applications video rendering.&#x20;

Use of other types of glasses may be suboptimal, with effects such as color bleeding and less clear 3D perception. Therefore, using NeuroTracker 3D glasses is strongly recommended.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I wear spectacles with NeuroTracker 3D glasses?</summary>

Yes, the glasses are designed to fit comfortably with spectacles. If spectacles are needed to view a computer display clearly, it is recommended they are worn with the 3D glasses.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I train in 2D?</summary>

Yes. To get the full benefits of NeuroTracker it is generally strongly recommended to train in stereo 3D. That said, there are a some exceptions:

1. When 3D is not practical, for example if waiting for 3D glasses to be delivered, users can initiate their training program in 2D.
2. Research has shown that in young children and elderly populations brain functions used for 3D stereo processing are less optimal, in which case the training benefits in 2D may be closer to 2D. Similarly, some patients with specific visual conditions (e.g. amblyopia) may have diminished 3D stereo capacities.
3. 2D versus 3D NeuroTracker baselines can be used to uniquely assess 3D stereo capacities for complex motion processing (used in driving for instance) for predicting real-world performance readiness. This type of assessment may also be useful for detecting the effects of prolonged regular exposures to 2D screen time, potentially impairing 3D stereo capacities or typical neurodevelopment processes in children.

To train in 2D it is important to make sure the NeuroTrackerX render is set to 2D in the user's dashboard options under their name. Training without 3D glasses with 3D on is not recommended, and may cause mild eye strain.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Where can I buy new 3D glasses?</summary>

Those looking to buy NeuroTracker 3D glasses should contact our Support Team.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I use NeuroTracker with a projector?</summary>

Yes. Projectors are a good solution for in-center based training and the large display is ideal for physical dual-task training. However projectors work best in low light environments - if there is sunlight in the room the display may look faded.

There are two options:

1. Use a normal 2D projector with NeuroTracker 3D anaglyph glasses. The glasses convert the projector display into stereo 3D.
2. Use a 3D projector. These come with active 3D glasses which must be used with the projector. For this option you must also switch the NeuroTracker application to Active 3D. Active 3D can be found in the user dashboard when clicking the dropdown menu under the user's name, in the Render options.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How far away from the screen should I sit?</summary>

As an approximate guide, the distance between your eyes and your display should be around the same distance as the width of the display. For example, with a 17 inch monitor, your eyes should be roughly 17 inches away from the screen. Training should always be completed with the center of the screen at eye level.

Get the right training set-up: [Getting the right training set-up](/how-to-use-neurotracker/getting-the-right-training-set-up)

</details>

<details>

<summary>Should I follow my targets with my eyes?</summary>

No. NeuroTracker is a multiple object tracking exercise and it is not possible to follow different targets simultaneously with your eyes. Instead keep your eyes directed towards the center of the screen and spread your mental attention to your peripheral field of view to track multiple targets at the same time.

Note: at first this can be a tricky skill to master for new users, but with a little patience and practice it will come naturally. It is also a useful skill in daily life (e.g. when driving or playing sports).

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is the dot for in the middle of the NeuroTrackerX exercise?</summary>

This is called a visual pivot and is there as reference point to help keep your eye gaze central, while spreading your visual attention to your peripheral field of view.

It is particularly helpful to focus on the visual pivot during the early phases of a training program, in order to prevent the eyes from trying to follow individual targets around the cube.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I unlock the program creation feature?</summary>

Creating programs, sessions and questionnaires is restricted to advanced and full-support plans.&#x20;

The feature is unlocked upon successful completion of the NeuroTracker Academy Advanced certification.&#x20;

# Copy of Full Compensation Guide

Rewards for BrainKeepers are split into two types:

1. Tiered Commissions from Referrals&#x20;
2. Rewards from our Global Pool&#x20;

## Tiered Commissions

* Earn 25% commission for direct referrals.
* Earn an additional 15% commission for indirect referrals (when someone you referred refers someone else who makes a purchase).
* Receive commissions every month as long as your direct and indirect referrals remain paying customers.
* Commissions are paid out quarterly, with a minimum payout of $300.
* **Example:** If 100 people sign up through your link, and each of those 100 people refers three others who also sign up, you’ll earn 25% commission on 100 subscriptions and 15% on 300 subscriptions every month!

## Reward Pools

Eventually, 5% of profits from the BrainKeeper program will be allocated to BrainKeepers. They will be split according to the number of children that they indirectly sponsor every time they refer a yearly subscription package.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
NeuroTracker donates 1 subscription to a child in need for every yearly subscription that is sold. So if you refer 10 yearly subscriptions, you will have sponsored 10 children, and you will be rewarded by the Rewards Pool.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

The pools are broken down as follows:

* **Beginner Pool (1%)**: Distributed to all BrainKeepers that <mark style="color:blue;">sponsor at least 1 child</mark> that month. The rewards are proportionally allocated according to the number of children sponsored.
* **Exclusive Pool (1.5%)**: Reserved for those who <mark style="color:blue;">sponsor over 20 children</mark> in a month. Again the rewards are proportionally allocated according to the children sponsored.

This accounts for a total of 2.5% of profits allocated to the general rewards pool. An additional 2.5% of profits will be reserved exclusively for BrainKeepers who become certified before January 2026, known as Original BrainKeepers. This reserved pool will follow the same structure as the general rewards pool, with allocations based on the number of children sponsored. Original BrainKeepers will enjoy these additional rewards as a benefit of their early certification.

## BrainKeeper Rewards Example

{% hint style="warning" %}
These numbers are for example only.
{% endhint %}

### **Tiered Commissions Example**

Let’s say you are a BrainKeeper, and in one month:

#### **Direct Referrals**

You refer **10 people** who each purchase a **yearly subscription** ($400 per year):

* **Commission Rate**: 25%
* **Total Revenue**: 10 × $400 = **$4,000**
* **Your Commission**: 25% × $4,000 = **$1,000**

#### **Indirect Referrals**

Each of your 10 referrals refers 3 new people (30 indirect referrals), and they also purchase **yearly subscriptions**:

* **Commission Rate**: 15%
* **Total Revenue**: 30 × $400 = **$12,000**
* **Your Commission**: 15% × $12,000 = **$1,800**

#### **Total Monthly Earnings**

* **Direct Referrals**: $1,000
* **Indirect Referrals**: $1,800
* **Total**: **$2,800 for this month**

***

### **Reward Pools Example**

#### **Scenario**

Let's continue with our BrainKeeper example where you referred **10 yearly subscriptions** in a month:

* For each yearly subscription sold, **1 child in need is sponsored**.
* You have therefore sponsored **10 children**.

#### **Beginner Pool (1% of profits)**

* Let’s assume the Beginner Pool contains **$200,000** in rewards for the month.
* If a total of **5,000 children** were sponsored across all BrainKeepers:
  * **Your Share**: (10 children / 5,000 children) × $200,000 = **$400**

#### **Exclusive Pool (1.5% of profits)**

* You haven't reached the **20-children threshold**, so you are not eligible for this pool.

#### **Original BrainKeepers Pool (2.5% of profits)**

* If you became certified before **January 2026** you qualify as an **Original BrainKeeper**, you also get a share from this pool.
* Assuming this pool also contains **$200,000** and 1000 children were sponsored by Original BrainKeepers:
  * **Your Share**: (10 children / 1000 children) × $200,000 = **$2,000**

#### **Total Reward Pool Earnings**

* **Beginner Pool**: $400
* **Original BrainKeepers Pool**: $2,000
* **Total**: **$2,400 for this month**

***

### **Grand Total (Commissions + Reward Pools)**

* **From Commissions**: $2,800
* **From Reward Pools**: $2,400
* **Total Earnings**: **$5,200 for this month**

{% hint style="success" %}
that's $5,200 from just 10 referrals!&#x20;
{% endhint %}

To begin with, this will be calculated monthly but the payouts will be done quarterly.&#x20;

Overall this demonstrates how even small efforts can generate significant income while positively impacting children’s lives!

{% hint style="danger" %}
The BrainKeeper program is new and subject to change at any time.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

# Full Compensation Guide

You will earn a 25% commission for every person that you refer Neurotracker to. However this can be increased for affiliates with large networks or opportunities.&#x20;

#### **Details**

* Commissions are paid out quarterly, with a minimum payout of $300.
* **Example:** If 100 people sign up through your link, you’ll earn 25% commission on 100 subscriptions for the lifetime of each subscription. Which works out to roughly $750 every month.&#x20;
